Over 100 floats took part in the two hour procession to the delight of residents, led by Griffith Highway Patrol's Sergeant Matt Carroll, a family orientated Steggles float and Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi riding in a chariot pulled by a pony.
Cr Dal Broi said the parade had exceeded all of the expectations of all involved.
“Today I am especially proud to be the mayor of this wonderful city,” he said.
“It has just been an absolutely brilliant morning, I have never seen so many people on the main street and I am just so happy they all came down to take part in this historic occasion.
“We all have to thank the organisers of today they have done a wonderful job and really put in a lot of hard work.
‘This has been absolutely great for Griffith.”
