GRIFFITH’S under six crowd went loco-motive for the Tin Hare heritage train on Friday as it shuttled them to Yenda and Tharbogang.

The train, which had previously operated in the area, returned for the centenary celebrations thanks to the Lachlan Valley Railway.
Five-year-old twins Sophie and Ella Nolan railroaded their father into taking them for a ride after hearing of the fun to be had on the daycare grapevine.
“One of the kids at daycare told me that he went on it and that it was fun and so that’s how we knew about it,” Ella said.
“Yes it was the talk of daycare.
“It’s going to be wild.
The pair were over the moon with the rare opportunity to ride the train through their home town.
“It’s because we haven’t been on a train in Griffith before,” Sophie explained. “I think it will be very fun and we will see trees and we might go past our house.
“It’s going to go super fast on the way home, that’s what people told us.”
Train driver Simone de Beuzeville said she had enjoyed a fabulous few days driving through the Griffith area.
“There have been lots and lots of kids and they have all been having a go at blowing the horn, they’re having a blast,” she said.
“On Thursday night we did a dinner train and it was completely sold out.
“A local cafe, O’Donnell’s, catered and everyone ate Moroccan chicken salad, sushi and brownies, it was an amazing evening.”
Ms de Beuzeville said the excitement of the train had affected young and old alike through the city.
“It just gives you a sense of enjoyment when you are on board,” she said.
“I love the railways and I love to travel it’s so nice when you can ride off into the sunset or see the countryside.”
The train will run it’s final leg from Griffith to Ardlethan on Sunday with passengers stopping for a leisurely lunch at the bowling club before making the trip home.
