He couldn’t have been happier with the efforts of his side in Sunday’s match against Griffith City, with the team dominating play to win 5-1.
“It was very good because we needed a draw or a win,” Trifogli said.
“Last week’s 1-all match was a good result but this week the boys really put it together. The defence was solid.”
Samy Elzahad was the standout player, scoring one of the five goals.
Adam Raso scored two penalties, while Michael Dilorenzo scored the fourth.
Griffith City scored an own goal to round out United’s score to five. Trifogli said the side was enjoying a celebratory drink after the late surge, with the side leading 1-nil at half-time.
“I think once we got on top in the midfield we turned them around and the breaks came for us,” he said.
“We were hoping for a 1-nil result but to get 5-1, that’s pretty dominant. We sang the song loud and hard tonight.”
Trifogli said the club would step up its training efforts.
“We’ve got to step up now because it’s finals time,” he said.
Leeton United takes on Hanwood FC next week, a match Trifogli said would be challenging but one he’s looking forward to.
