A recent Irrigation Research and Extension Committee (IREC) field day at Whitton demonstrated this before 100 people.
IREC executive officer Iva Quarisa said the day was a great opportunity.
“Growers and industry saw how easy irrigation management can be,” she said. “Irrigation structures were opened and closed in front of participants by the touch of a button on a mobile phone.
IREC chairman and Leeton shire grower, Rob Houghton, said irrigated agriculture was entering an exciting phase.
“This new automation technology is a great example of the possibilities for the future in irrigation management,” he said.
