One of those taking part is Nate Verbrugge, who has participated in over 30 symposia in the last 12 years. These took her all over the world, including to Italy, France, Turkey, Albania, Argentina, China and more.
“Stone sculpture has been my medium of choice for over 17 years,” Ms Verbrugge said.
“I love the physical side of the work, even if it looks like hard dusty work.
“What I like most about working with stone is bringing out a sensual form from a hard medium.
“Stone allows the public to discover my work with their hands, not just their eyes.
“I love it when people run their hands over my sculptures to feel the curves or angles I created.”
Having been to Griffith before, Ms Verbrugge was looking forward to returning.
“What I remember most was the ‘Italian influence’ in the daily life,” she said.
“I am looking forward to interacting with the residents again.”
