The pilot had flown from Wollongong in a light aircraft and was getting ready to land shortly after 10am when a warning light indicated his landing gear wasn’t down.
When pilots lower the landing gear, or wheels, they get three green lights.
Griffith airport co-ordinator Bob Campbell said a plane already in the air flew by and reported the landing gear was down.
A second plane took off and confirmed the wheels were in place.
Emergency services were called to the scene as part of the airport’s standard procedure but weren’t needed.
Mr Campbell said the plane landed safely and everyone on board was ok.
