In the lead up to their annual Circle of Gold fundraiser the selfless group, who raise funds to support local families affected by cancer, have asked the community to donate their spare gold coins to gold cans located in businesses throughout the town.
President of Can Assist, Olga Forner, said the charity felt they were not overstepping the mark and asking for a lot of money. “Just a gold coin donation, but hopefully all those will all add up and will be directly utilised in our community to help people who are suffering with cancer,” she said. “We would so appreciate if anyone sees the cans somewhere if they could make a small donation. Otherwise we look forward to seeing them on April 30 at Griffith Central for our Circle of Gold fundraiser.”
Mrs Forner said the event was an important fundraising opportunity for the charity. “We really need as many people as possible to donate,” she said. “Our motive is the satisfaction of seeing people reach remission and achieve possible cures.”
