Magistrate Kate Thompson was asked for an adjourment, with his solicitor stating counsel availability was an issue.
She said availability of counsel would not affect when the matter was heard and listed it for mention on February 10.
Magistrate Thompson said Leuea would be required to appear in person on the day.
His bail was continued until that date.
The Catholic priest has been accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at Griffith more than a decade ago.
The 49-year-old parish priest of St Mel’s in Narrandera – now stood down – was arrested on November 11.
Leuea served as a priest at Leeton from 2001 and then moved to Griffith for two-and-a-half years before taking up a post in the Yenda-Yoogali-Hanwood parish.
He was posted to St Mel’s in October last year against the strong wishes of his Yenda-Yoogali-Hanwood parishioners.
