Students, teachers and volunteers were out at Kalinda School recently to plant trees for National Tree Day.

Kalinda teacher Rachel Gill said the trees would be of good help to the students.
“What we’re trying to achieve is basically a windbreak so the children are more protected,” she said.
“It’s also to give us a bit more privacy from the street.
“The kids have really loved being able to help plant the trees as well.”
Owen Toyota donated the trees and General Manager Mark Owen was there to help plant them.
“We just wanted to get behind National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day more importantly,” he said.
“It’s all about getting behind the community, so we provided some gloves and t-shirts to the kids and just tried to help out where we could.”
