This time in the form of a new ultrasound machine.
The new addition was made possible by a $42000 donation by the Griffith Base Hospital United Hospitals Auxiliary and $15000 from the Rotary Club of Griffith.
Acting General Manager of the hospital Meredith Whittaker said this new addition will reduce wait times for patients.
“It means that patients in the emergency department can have immediate access to ultrasound for things such as getting a line in, as it can see veins and things,” she said.
“It can look at breaks, it can be used for people who come in with abdominal pain, anything that you come for an ultrasound normally.
“It means quicker diagnosis.”
Louisa Feltracco from the auxiliary said it was good to see the donated money being put to good use.
“That's why we're so dedicated, because we know that this is all spent here,” she said.
“The people of Griffith and surrounding areas are the ones who will benefit from the this.”
Former president of the Rotary Club of Griffith echoed those sentiments.
“We had a request from the hospital and we could see the need for the machine,” he said.
“Apart from the benefits for the hospital it's also beneficial to the community as a whole.”
