Ms Ford said she secured the scholarship after she complied with the criteria and sent in her application.
“The application was based on multiple things, we had to have a passion about the rural area and show that one day you will give back to a rural community,” she said.
“I’d like to graduate as a large animal veterinarian and as a country girl I would like to stay in the area. Griffith is always home to me, I grew up there and have been very involved in the Griffith community.”
With the scholarship money, Ms Ford intends to reduce her work hours so she can be more involved with the community.
The former Wade High pupil works as an after-hours equine nurse at the CSU Veterinary Clinical Centre.
Ms Ford attends Charles Sturt University in Wagga where she is completing her final year of an animal science degree along with her first year of a veterinary science degree.
