Marin, from Griffith, proved he was a dead-eye to finish with an impressive 1398 points out of a possible 2000.

Shaun Krzus (1384) shot well to finish second, while Jason Newman (1329) was next best in third.

The competition comprised different events each week and saw competitors use their .22 calibre rimfire rifles to place high-scoring shots on a variety of feral animal targets.

Distances varied from 20m to 100m, with shooters using either a benchrest or free-standing position.

Competitors had to use the same sporting rifle and telescopic sight for each event. 

This condition proved challenging because it tested each competitor’s target-shooting skills in various situations.

The best six scores were eligible for the final competition tally.

In other results, the top female shooter was Celia Adams (1255), while Ella Castellaro (1176) was the best junior.

The highest scores in each of the individual matches were also recognised. Marin was the best in the 50m benchrest (235/250) and 50m standing (203/250), while Krzus (239/250) shone in the 20m rabbit rapid fire.

Marin and Celia Adams (250/250) both shot possibles on the feral cat at a distance of 100m.
