Inspector Paul Smith from Griffith Local Area Command (LAC) said that police executed a search warrant on the Tucker street residence where a cache of stolen property was uncovered along with prohibited drugs.
“A 24 year old Griffith man was arrested and has been charged with receiving stolen property and goods in custody. He has been bailed to appear before Griffith Local Court on the 24th of June,” Inspector Smith said.
Inspector Smith also said that police had attended an Erskin Road residence on Thursday evening and after investigations seized a large amount of stolen property along with cannabis plants.
“A 57 year old Griffith man at this residence was interviewed and will face charges of receiving stolen property,” Inspector Smith said.
“Investigations and information led police to arrest a 26 year old Griffith man on Friday morning who was in possession of a KTM motorcycle that had been stolen overnight from a Clifton Boulevard residence.
“The man was in possession of further property that is suspected of being stolen. He was charged with aggravated break enter and steal and is expected to be charged with related property theft offences. He has been bailed to appear before Griffith Local Court on the 10th of June.”
Shortly after that arrest a 2014 Commodore sedan was recovered in the yard of a Garton Place residence. According to police this vehicle had been stolen from Yenda on 25 May and Inspector Smith said it had been involved in a number of offences since that time. He said the vehicle was seized and arrests were anticipated.
“Although we have seen some success there is a significant amount of work still required from police and the public as these are not the only thieves impacting on local property crime. If you have information share it with your local police or crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
The arrests followed an upward trend in property theft offences, especially break and enters, in and around the Griffith district that had included both residential and commercial premises and vehicles being stolen from.
