The Area News ran an online poll asking if people thought the council should allow sex workers to operate in residential or commercial areas.
The poll got 146 responses in just over 24 hours, with a whopping 110 yes votes, more than 75 per cent.
The poll followed a story about a local sex worker who has been calling for council to change their zoning requirements.
Facebook comments were posted in support, with one person writing “everyone has the right to feel and be safe”.
Another wrote “like every other profession they have the right to a safe (sic) as possible work environment”.
“It's a human rights issue. We are all entitled to a safe work space,” Jackie Parker wrote.
