“The minister (Sussan Ley) has no control over which drugs are allowed to go through, the PBAC make that decision because they are the medical practitioners,” he said.
“I sympathise with Chris and his family, my family has been affected by it and I do understand it's an extremely tough situation for everyone involved."
Minister for Health and Sport, Sussan Ley did not wish to speak on the matter as it was currently before the independent PBAC and she felt it would be inappropriate to comment.
She was however “pleased to have met with Naomi and Chris Brugger to accept their petition and asked to be kept informed,” Ms Ley said.
