“We have not received a fair share of infrastructure and services and we have been inundated with reviews and submissions with few outcomes,” Mr Wheeldon said.
“We should expect more from all of the politicians.”
Mr Wheeldon has launched a campaign demanding more for regional NSW.
He visited Griffith last weekend to talk to candidates ahead of the state election. He said murray2015.org was calling on citizens of Murray to support the campaign and ensure a representative of Murray who will truly fight for its prosperity is elected.
Mr Wheeldon, who has been a councillor in Wenworth Shire since 2012, said he believed small communities were missing out, despite the government’s “binge of major projects funding”.
He said the government had committed to a number of large scale projects across the state, but smaller communities that needed funding in other areas had been overlooked.
Mr Wheeldon said the government was spruiking funding for regional areas, but the cash was only available to specific projects.
“Are we going to get any of this money?” he asked.
“Asking for our fair share is not outlandish.”
Mr Wheeldon said believed the state election was a prime opportunity to ensure Murray was put back on the agenda.
His top priorities for Murray include
– Infrastructure Equity;
- No Forced Amalgamations;
- Less Red Tape;
- Let Us Manage Our Land;
- Just Add Water;
- Health, Education, Law and Order.
Mr Wheeldon said murray2015.org would monitor each candidate and list every promise made and every policy rejection publicly stated.
“This will assist voters in your LGA make the best possible decision in relation to the best candidate for Murray,” he said.
“I encourage you to visit www.murray2015.org and support our campaign for a fair go.”
