CORO captain Haydn Pascoe says the Cougars feel like a close-knit cricket team again now they have settled on a first grade line-up.
The Cougars were off the pace at the start of the season but have claimed a couple of notable victories the past month against Leagues Club and reigning premiers Exies.
Pascoe said the Cougars' lift in form was the result of fielding a consistent team.
"We were really up and down at the start of the season because we didn't have that many people available," he said.
"It's good we're getting a few boys in there week in, week out now in our first grade side.
"We're actually getting a team bond, which is very crucial to playing good cricket."
That camaraderie will be tested tomorrow when the Cougars take on the resurgent Hanwood at Hanwood Oval.
Wooden spooners last summer, Hanwood is in contention for a semi-final spot halfway through the season.
Much of its recent success can be traced to young paceman Tom West, who has taken 19 wickets in his past two matches.
Pascoe said the speedster was in rare form.
"We're going to have to watch out for him," Pascoe said of West.
"He's been playing well, and it's actually good to see.
"I remember seeing him a couple of years ago when he was coming through the ranks.
"It's good to see him playing as well as he can."
But as devastating as West can be, Pascoe wouldn't trade Coro spearheads Alex Flood and Chris Mansell.
He said the duo had also played a part in the Cougars' form reversal.
"At the start of the year one of our problems was that we weren't taking wickets early," Pascoe said.
"But Alex and Chris are starting to bowl well now.
"They're getting those breakthroughs.
"We're still scoring runs.
"We batted 70 overs (against Exies), so it's all good signs.
"If you can bat out your overs, you'll win 90 per cent of your games."
