THREE Ways United coach Graham Carroll believes his side can win the Koori Rugby League Knockout in the near future and bring the tournament to Griffith.
Three Ways United competed in this year's event in Raymond Terrace and progressed to the quarter-finals before being eliminated by eventual winner, Walgett Aboriginal Connection.
With his side also reaching the semi-finals two years ago, Carroll said Three Ways United was closing in on a win.
"We've been going close, but we just can't get a decent run at things," he said.
"We had a few injuries and a couple of calls go against us this year, but we still did well.
"It was a very enjoyable trip."
But if Carroll has his way, his team won't have to travel to take part in one of the future editions.
Whichever side wins the tournament earns the right to host it the following year.
With more than 60 teams taking part in 2014, Carroll said staging the event would be a big money spinner.
"If we can bring it back to Griffith, the amount of money it'll inject into the town will be phenomenal," he said.
"There's 25 players per team, and the amount of people who follow it is unbelievable.
"On Friday and Saturday there would've been 5000, maybe 10,000 people on the three grounds.
"It's unbelievable the amount of support it had.
"Hopefully we can get it here, but first we have to win it."
The majority of players representing Three Ways United this year were from Group 20 clubs, but the squad was missing arguably its biggest star, Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita.
The NSW and Australia representative, who grew up in Griffith, was unable to take the field after undergoing off-season surgery but remained involved as a trainer.
"He's played every year for us, so we did miss him," Carroll said of Fifita.
"But his twin, David, and Latu (Fifita) had a run with us.
Carroll said Tullibigeal-Lakes United fullback and 2014 Group 20 player of the year, Jaden Kelly, was Three Ways United's best performer.
Fellow Griffith side Frog's Hollow also competed in the tournament but were eliminated by Three Ways United.
