Organisers of this year's Griffith Show, which will be held in October, are encouraging women aged 18 to 25 to sign up to be part of the annual showgirl competition.
Griffith Show Society secretary Juley Jackson hoped local women would consider entering.
She said they were looking for girls keen to be part of a fantastic experience, with a genuine interest in promoting the Griffith Show.
"The showgirl competition is not a beauty contest," she said.
"We'd like to see girls who have a knowledge of the local area.
"What they get out of it you can't get anywhere else.
"In the past we've had some fabulous ambassadors go on to compete in Land Showgirl competition in Sydney."
Last year's Griffith Showgirl, Emily Chilvers, encouraged locals to enter what she described "a wonderful experience".
"Entering this competition not only extends yourself as a young woman and empowers you with the courage to do things out of the ordinary, but it also allows you to deepen your connections with your local community as well as the greater NSW," she said.
"Showgirl combines so many fantastic skills together and allows you to grow so much in yourself as well."
Those wishing to enter the showgirl competition should contact the show office 6962 6462 or Juley on 0417 335 050.
This year the Showgirl Cocktail evening will be held on Saturday, September 20 at Woodside Hall, with the community invited to attend.
