Pat Pittavino will replace outgoing president Paul Pierotti, who served a two-year term as head of chamber and will remain on the executive managing the government and water portfolios.
Mr Pittavino, who was the chamber’s inaugural president, said he was focused on getting the best outcomes for Griffith.
“The two biggest things for us are government and council and we don’t want to be seen as political stirrers but we will jump up and down when we need to,” Mr Pittavino said.
“We are passionate about doing something for the city and that includes the new business awards we hope to introduce next year.”
Mr Pittavino said the existing chamber firm would remain, it had merely been “rearranged”.
“The great thing about that is stability,” he said.
“We all get on as a team.”
Mr Pierotti said there was still much work to be done but he felt Mr Pittavino was qualified to lead chamber through it.
“I’d like to thank all our members – membership has grown significantly over the last few years,” Mr Pierotti said.
“There’s a lot of work to be done but we’re clear on what we need to do.
“We look forward to the resurgence of the Griffith economy and Pat is an ex-president of chamber, ex-councillor, ex-candidate for state government and he’s extremely qualified.”
