"A cold front which is going to kick off some persistent showers and storms over parts of eastern Australia and more importantly to parts of recently flood affected eastern Australia. You can see this cold front moving through South Australia and parts of Victoria during today," BoM meteorologist Jackson Browne said.
The BoM expects some severe storms around the north-east districts of Victoria and Gippsland and High Country today and tomorrow.

The trough is then expected to move north to NSW with storms in Sydney and severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and damaging winds in the Hunter and Coffs Harbour region later in the week.
By Friday it is expected thunderstorms will hit already flood affected areas in the Northern Rivers, bringing more rainfall which may lead to renewed flooding.
