The meeting will begin, after the formalities, with all councillors taking their oath of office or affirmation, promising to act in the best interests of the community and to take the duties of the city council seriously.
The council will vote on the deputy mayor position, but the length of the deputy mayor's term is not set in stone. Council will have the option to elect the deputy mayor for the full term, two years or one year. They also have the option to simply not elect a deputy mayor, but historically, this is unlikely.
Council will also nominate councillors to attend the Local Government NSW Annual Conference 2021, which after a number of postponements, is now taking place in 2022. Previously, the Council resolved that the Mayor and Councillors Anne Napoli and Rina Mercuri attend the Conference and be Council's nominated voting delegates.
While Anne Napoli remains, Rina Mercuri is no longer a member of council so at minimum, council will have to nominate a replacement to attend the conference in her place.

Council will institute a review of the committee structure, potentially putting the current working group structure on hold until a new structure is created. The recommendation from the general manager is to create a new structure, to be adopted no later than March.
A notice of motion from Anne Napoli is an attempt to begin repairing what has been a difficult relationship between Griffith City Council and the Griffith Business Chamber.
The motion is to plan a meeting between the council, the business chamber executives, State Member for Murray Helen Dalton and Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley to establish positive working relationships with all parties.
The council meeting will take place from 7pm on Tuesday, October 12. The meeting will be livestreamed through the Griffith City Council Facebook page and minutes will be posted on the Griffith City Council website at a later date.
