The Active Farmers Games have previously been held in Temora the past two years to great success, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of physical and mental health as well as getting active.

Described as 'tough mudder but with a farming spin', the games will have mud crawls, hay wall climbs, tyre stacking and so much more. The course designed to mimic challenges we may face in real life, and how these can be better overcome with a team by your side.

"We are delighted to bring the Games to the community of Coleambally after running this event for two years at Temora," Active Farmers CEO Ginny Stevens said.

"It is such a fun filled family event and we cannot wait to see it kick off at Coly."

The main event will involve teams of three people consisting of at least one male and one female and is open to anyone over the age of 13 years old.

There will also be a kids obstacle course for Under 13's which is free to participate in as well as teenagers events with music on blast and food and coffee available for purchase.

"Active Farmers builds resilience within small farming communities by bringing them together to have fun, get their heart rates up and most importantly catch up with their communities," Mrs Stevens said.

"Research suggests that exercise, especially in a group setting, can have a profound impact on mental health and so our participants are also working on their mental health, without even realising."

Local farmer and Active Farmers Board Member Joe Briggs said it was 'unreal' to have the opportunity to host the event in the small community of Coleambally.

"Besides bringing people together this event will help us showcase what Coly has to offer and also boost our local economy."

And whilst the event won't be held until March 12, registrations are now open for those who would like to enter as there will be a cap on the number of people who can attend the event and participate.

According to Mrs Stevens, the community event is looking for volunteers and sponsors to help the event run smoothly.

"Successful community events like the Active Farmers Games cannot be held without the help of volunteers and sponsors," Mrs Stevens said.
