A GRIFFITH teen is calling for government action to tackle a Service NSW backlog that prevented her from attaining her provisional one licence even after completing all requirements.

Emily Adamson said it took her a month-and-a-half to secure an appointment after becoming eligible to take the provisional one driving test, which requires you to complete 120 hours.
"I had done all my hours and I've been trying to book in a time to take my test for the last month-and-a-half but I've been told there are no availabilities anywhere in our region," she said.
"The advice has been 'keep checking every week'."
Miss Adamson said after constantly pushing for a spot she finally secured one, but has concerns for others among her age group as many are looking to relocate for university.

"I went into Service NSW because I'm moving in two weeks' time for work and I need my licence for that job, so I was lucky enough to have been able to get a time, but my concern is for the rest of my age group," she said.
Miss Adamson said without a licence she wouldn't be able to do her job properly, while it also means she would have to rely on public transport.
"It would just be a massive inconvenience and I would feel quite underprepared to be living by myself and not be able to get anywhere or to be able to go back home to Griffith or to get to and from university," she said.
Miss Adamson said she has been informed by Service NSW that they are struggling to get through a "massive backlog" as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.
"I'm on a Facebook group chat where a lot of my friends who have just done their HSC have come forward and said they haven't been able to get their licence either," she said.
Service NSW confirmed it is experiencing a high demand for driver testing across the state due to the impact of COVID restrictions with Service NSW actively recruiting new driver testers to meet the high demand.
"Service NSW understands the wait time is frustrating and appreciates customer patience and understanding," a Service NSW spokesperson said.
"Driver testers must be fully vaccinated and customers either need to be fully vaccinated or have received a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test result on the day of the driver or rider licence test.
"Guidelines for face masks, disposable seat covers, hand sanitiser and other personal protective equipment remain in place.
"Online bookings for driver testing are still available statewide."
