In a statement released to The Area News, the MLHD confirmed that both Griffith Base Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital have dedicated COVID-19 wards and ICU beds, with surge capacity if required.
Patients in the MLHD with COVID-19 who require hospitalisation will be admitted to either hospital under the care of specialist respiratory physicians.
There are currently 11 patients with COVID-19 receiving care in the MLHD with one now on a ventilator.
"The vast majority of people who have COVID-19 do not require hospitalisation," a spokesperson for the MLHD said.
"Most will have mild disease and be able to isolate at their own home with the support of their GP if required, or have clinical staff support them through MLHD's Care in the Home model."

Throughout the early stages of the pandemic, MLHD also sourced additional equipment including ventilators.
"We regularly review our stocks and supply chains of resources, including PPE and pharmacy items, to ensure adequate supplies," a spokesperson for the MLHD said.
"Our workforce has been increased and upskilled, with staff attending surge training in intensive care, emergency care and immunisation specialties to provide additional capacity if needed."
It has been noted however that despite the rising case numbers, the current low number of hospitalisations across the MLHD are a reflection of high vaccination rates.
Currently in the MLHD 97.1 percent of people over the age of 16 and 81.4 percent of 12-15 year olds are fully vaccinated.
