The day was hosted by Interreach, partnering with Griffith Aged Care Services to provide a series of talks and events based around 'Ageing Well.'
Tammy Cabban, an aged care advocate at the Seniors Rights Service, said that it was vital to understand how ageism could impact the population.
"Part of my role is talking and explaining legal issues around ageism. So I spoke about ageism, how to identify it. It affects choice and control, we see a lot of it where people decide what's best for them rather than give them that autonomy," she explained.
She added that events like this were important to empower seniors and combat isolation, especially after COVID-19 has prevented many social events from happening.
Simone Murphy is the project leader at Interreach and organised the event. She said she was pleased with the turnout.
"It's gone really well, it's been a good turnout," she said.
"At the moment, it's important for aged people to come and be social, so it's a really good experience ... We'd love to do it again, it's been a great success."

Fran Aloisi said she was surprised to hear about the services on offer in Griffith.
"It was really good, there was useful info on just all the services that are available - you just have to ask."
Of course, the event wasn't all talks and seminars. The Murrumbidgee Ukulele Group turned out to provide entertainment, along with a surprise choreographed dance from Griffith Aged Support Services staff and clients.
Peter Taylor is the head of the MUG, and said it was nice to be invited but they didn't tend to seek events like this out.
"For us, it's all about having fun ... We don't seek performances but we do know the age group will enjoy it. Our philosophy has always been fun."
There was also a series of gentle exercises, emphasising the importance of physical activity.
