MILLIKEN SHIELD
Griffith Milliken Shield team suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Hay at Collina Oval last Sunday.
Griffith batted first and after losing an early wicket with the score on four, Fletcher Robertson and Jai Kenny put on a rapid 35 run partnership before wickets started to fall and the flow of runs dried up. From 3/52 after 11 overs the scoring rate slowed to an average two runs per over.
After Robertson retired on 25, only Jai Kenny with 12 and Fletcher Kelly with 10 reached double figures. Griffith's total finished on a modest 11/90.
Hay lost two early wickets to be 2/11 and then picked up to reach 4/56 and 6/77. Then four wickets fell for six runs to leave the visitors 10/83 with the last pair at the crease. A bit of wayward bowling and solid batting saw Hay pass the Griffith total with one over to spare.
Alec Brady finished with figures of 3/10, Connor Moore 2/5 and Jordon Williams in a good performance by a largely inexperienced side.
