The two had been at a birthday party in Kooba on November 27, despite neither being invited. The party, while initially planned for 50 people had grown to accommodate around 100 guests.
The two had been arguing to the point of a physical altercation earlier in the night but it was broken up quickly.
Discussion of the event spread and incited further anger amongst the two, who began to argue again at around midnight.
At some point during this second argument, a knife was drawn and a young man was stabbed in his upper left shoulder and his right arm.
The assailant fled the scene while the victim received first aid. Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards and he was taken to Wagga Base Hospital for treatment and surgery.
The accused person was later arrested by Griffith police at around 9am. He has been charged with reckless wounding
Police are appealing to witnesses from the party to come forward and share anything they saw.
