After a pause because of COVID-19, the team is now set to continue to build on the work that has already been done for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Iva Quarisa, of SOS Riverina says that this year is a big cropping year and it was critical to empower growers from all industries with the knowledge to reduce the risk of spray drift.

"It's great to see that up to 75 per cent of growers in some regions have a spray plan in place but we need to consolidate that in our region so we can collectively manage the increased risk of drift when time is tight and big areas have to be treated," Ms Quarisa said.

"There is no doubt that today's machinery can get the job done, but there are other considerations for growers where spray drift can be an issue."

"Our approach this year is to connect growers with the wide range of resources that are already available and build the capacity of advisors around managing spray drift."

SOS NSW is a conduit for growers and advisors across industries to research organisations like CRDC and GRDC, industry and the advisory community, both private and government.

The group plan to roll out a range of initiatives to build a community of practice across regions and improve the return on the great work that has already been done.

SOS NSW was born following several reports of spray drift damage in the Warren region in the summer of 2017-18. Since then a number of other regions have joined the initiative including Riverina, Balonne, Gwydir, Namoi and the Lachlan.
