The addition of the fish was set down for November 19 but unforeseen circumstances pushed the date to this Friday, November 27.
It's expected to take all day, but Tom Armstrong said a few fish would left over and residents and anglers are invited to help out by heading down to the Griffith Boat Club from 4pm.
Mr Armstrong said there would be a free barbecue, plus activities for children and some giveaways.
The restock has been organised by Mr Armstrong and OzFish, with residents and businesses raising $10,000, which was then matched by a donation from Griffith City Council.
Mr Armstrong said Yellow Belly fingerlings would also be added in future.

"It's a milestone for the lake's recovery. It's a turning point, it should be all upwards from here," he said.
Murray Cod season opens on December 1, and Mr Armstrong said there had been an emphasis to get the fish into the lake before the season began.
And while size limits mean anglers can take cod over 55 to 75 centimetres, Mr Amstrong is encouraging anglers to catch and release the fish to ensure there's good fishing for all residents.
Each of the fish to be added into the lake on Friday have been tagged, and Mr Armstrong said the first person to catch one of the fish would win a lure from Legohead Lures.
Another five Murray Cod measuring from 75 centimetres to 90 centimetres will be tagged and the first person to catch one of these fish, will also win a lure. Mr Armstrong said there were five lures on offer for anglers.
