Drizzling rain and a weather map showing widespread clouds over most of southern NSW is enough to change a peaceful Saturday afternoon into one of high anxiety for a Feral race director.

The wet weather track, yes or no! Then if yes, when to make the call. At 4:28 pm the Facebook post went up "The rain is not going away so it's off to the wet weather track for today's run!"
A great call from a ladies perspective. In the short 3.2km course the first 6 placing out of a field of 24 went to women and in the long 6.4km course 3 of the top 4 placings from a field of 37 also went to women.
With 8 starters in front of her Lynnette Kenny (17 minutes 44 seconds) put in a strong performance to finish in 1st place, 40 seconds ahead of Ashley Pianca and 56 seconds ahead of Milla Vecchio who finished 3rd. Lyn Potter and Lorraine Maxwell ran together from start to finish and put in highly commendable performances.
Rita Fascianelli-McIvor (37 minutes 35 seconds) starting off a handicap of 1 minute 45 seconds overtook Tania Moore within the first kilometre and held the lead all the way to the finish line, despite losing a few seconds as the traffic warden made her she gave way to a car at the Mallinson road crossing.
Mia Stockwell (27 minutes 13 seconds) was second and the only male to feature in the top placings was Digby Jones, 3rd with (30 minutes 36 seconds).
With 3 down 4 more races to go in the Hotfoot competition the trophy in both the long and the short course has no firm favourites.

Jai Kenny on 80 points leads the long course however, keep an eye out for Feral's such as Derek Goullet, Matthew Pasin and Aidan Fattore, they all have the stamina for strong finishes in the gruelling fine weather Hotfoot course. Ashley Pianca with 110 points leads the short course point score by 19 points.
Pianca normally is a long course runner but is returning from an injury. The question is "will she return to long course running as her condition improves or will she take a crack at the short course trophy?" Then there is the question "will the handicap of an improving runner rule her out of contention?". Tactics become important.
