Mr Crump is currently best known for spray painting yellow circles on Yambil Street potholes, and subsequently being charged with vandalism. Prior to that, he was a council worker and still sits on the traffic committee.

He said that there were four key issues he wanted to address if he wins a seat in the upcoming election.

"The four main ones are an audit, housing, the lake and the roads," he said.

He said that he hoped to bring in a full audit of Griffith City Council, examining financial records as well as internal actions.

"I believe we need change, we need an audit and if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to offer an apology ... There's insinuations of money mismanagement though, that needs to be looked at," he said.

He added that he wanted less council involvement with Lake Wyangan, but highlighted it as a point of concern.

"The lake should be managed by those who have a vested interest in it. That's Murrumbidgee Irrigation and the farmers who use it. Council should have a presence, but I don't think it should be involved in day-to-day operation."

He suggested using the lake as storage for carryover water, in an effort to increase water flow.

"If we get a big pipeline in there, we can get that water into the canal. Right now, if the dam flows over, the farmers lose that water," Mr Crump said.

"We need big volumes of water in and big volumes of water out, the lake could be self-sustaining."

He said that the key elements would be interlinked, so addressing a few would help address the rest. He highlighted housing as an underlying problem that prevented others from being addressed quickly.

"You can't expect people to come here and live in a caravan, we're losing out because of housing ... If we address those four, things will change," he said.

"We need everyone who has a block zoned for development to meet, and discuss who is ready to subdivide and start development."
