Mr Croce and Ms La Rocca have been engaged in Griffith politics for many years - Mr Croce has served as a city councillor for seventeen years and was Deputy Mayor between September 2020 and October 2021. Ms La Rocca currently heads the multicultural council and is well-known for her engagement with a wide number of committees and taskforces.
She explained her experience with housing through her work as a building designer, which is shaping up to be a crucial platform in the upcoming elections.
"I have real, measurable knowledge in housing, I was just on the Regional Housing Taskforce and that's been addressing the problems. Plans are afoot," she said.
Mr Croce described 'four key things to be addressed.'
"There's four main things. Health, housing, employment and education ... It's good having these two here, Denise has a health background and Carmel has a lot of engagement with the community, " he said.

Mr Croce added that he was keen to continue his run to keep up the momentum.
"There's so much that we're halfway through. It's a golden period, really, but it's not done. We're on a roll and we need to keep it that way."
Ms Forbes, after growing up in Griffith, has spent the past years travelling and is hoping to bring what she's learnt back to the town.
"Compared to some of the places I've seen, Griffith has relatively few parklands. I'd like to see more parks ... I'm a registered nurse, so I would really like Griffith to be more of a healthy city," she said.
"Council itself needs a complete change. It needs new thoughts and new ideas."

"Unless we get a change, nothing will change," Ms Forbes said.
While infrastructure and development are shaping up to be key points in the election and upcoming term, Ms La Rocca added that she didn't want to forget the importance of recreation.
"Griffith needs entertainment and recreation, people need that so they want to come here and then they want to stay. I would like to have more festivals and events that can help build the community."
