The project is funded through the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Murrumbidgee Council Director of Infrastructure Tom Dimec called the project 'exciting'.
"It's very exciting that another major project is getting underway in our Council area," Mr Dimec said.

"The skate bowl is being built in response to community feedback," Mr Dimec said.
"It's a terrific example of Council and the community working collaboratively to facilitate projects and initiatives."
According to Murrumbidgee Council, the project is expected to take a month, with the skate park expected to reopen with a brand new mini skate bowl by the end of the year.
Haley Constructions have been contracted by Murrumbidgee Council to design and build the new addition.
