According to the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), no further results have been recorded for Leeton at this stage.

The testing was conducted on Monday October 18, with the positive result returning on the Friday.

At the time, there was no known positive cases of COVID-19 in the community.

And whilst the news is good, sewerage detection tests will continue to go ahead twice weekly for the foreseeable future according to Leeton Shire Mayor Paul Maytom.

"I am confident that things are under control however we will wait patiently for further results," Mr Maytom said.

"The message is to keep on doing what we are doing and get tested if we have any symptoms.

"Our exceptionally good compliance puts us in a great position if we were to have a positive case in Leeton."

MLHD Chief Executive Jill Ludford called for continual vigilance in her Tuesday press conference as case numbers continue to rise across the Murrumbidgee.

"My message is that we have to be vigilant, social distancing and washing your hands are the two most critical things you can do to keep yourself safe during a time like this," Mrs Ludford said.

"I strongly recommend you continue to wear your masks as an additional level of protection".

The Albury outbreak is of most worry, with concerns only growing about future seeding events in border local government areas.

"Vaccination is our ticket to slow transmission and our return to normal freedoms".
