A 57-year-old man has been charged after fleeing a car accident that left another in hospital, outside Kooba.

Just before 7:00pm on October 24, police detected a Ford Falcon speeding near Kooba and a pursuit was commenced. The pursuit was later called off and police commenced inquiries while putting a warrant out.
Three hours later, at 9:45, police received information that the suspect was travelling down Gum Creek Road and confronted the car. After submitting to a breath test, the driver was found to be significantly under the influence of alcohol.
Police also found that the driver had failed to stop at an earlier accident, with another older male. The injured man was transferred to Griffith Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is in a good condition.
The driver had bail refused and will appear in Griffith Local Court on October 25.
Police also investigated a break-in at a store on Benerembah Avenue.
At around 2:00 in the morning on October 24, the business was broken into and robbed. Multiple pairs of shoes were taken from a storeroom.
Police are currently investigating a person of interest who is described as having a medium-sized build and being around five foot three.
