Good question. I've been dodging scrutiny of my largest organ.
If it isn't behind a mask, it's been artfully filtered on Zoom.
Don't worry - you're not alone. Lockdown skin is a thing.
New research shows that two in five Aussies have succumbed to 'skineglect.'
We've abandoned our skincare routines, and as a result 68 per cent of us are battling at least one skin condition.
Eek. And now there's no hiding place. Real life has no filter. Who's running the numbers?
Skincare brand Cetaphil just conducted their Aussie Skin Sensitivity SENSEus to launch their inaugural Skin Awareness month - happening throughout October.
Their research also found that 80 percent of us think our skin looks unhealthy.
Too much screen tan and not enough fresh air?
It's more about stress and bad diet. Your skin is like a walking billboard for burnout. And then there's 'mascne' breakouts from the ubiquitous face coverings - and yes, an overdose of indoors.
All up, a calamitous cluster for your put-upon pores.
Your skin is like a walking billboard for burnout.
I am reaching for a weapons-grade concealer as we speak.
Wrong strategy! The survey also revealed a common misconception about our skin: two in five Aussies believe it's only there to look good. That's what the awareness week's all about - reminding us that skin is a fundamental contributor to our health, protecting and defending us, and alerting us to what's happening beneath the surface.
As dermatologist Dr Leona Yip says in the campaign: "Our skin performs several essential functions. The health of your skin reflects your overall health."
I'm suddenly feeling deeply shallow - and sorry for my skin. How can I make amends?
Dr Yip recommends a solid skincare routine - at the very least daily cleansing and moisturising.
Know your skin type and make sure you're using products that suit it. Also look out for dryness - it's one of the most common signs of skin sensitivity.
