There will be a change in leadership at Exies Eagles heading into the 2021/22 season with opening batter and keeper Craig Burge taking over the captaincy.

Burge has been a constant member of the Eagles side since returning to Griffith in 2016 and was a member of the premiership side in the 2017/18 season as well as the Don Coleman Shield winning team last season, which saw him score a fifty during the pool games.
Taking on the role of captain is seen as a great opportunity by Burge.
"It is an exciting opportunity to help build the side up with some of the younger players coming through the ranks," he said.
This season will see the Eagles look to their youth once more as they look to build on what was a tough season in 2020/21.
"I think some of the younger players are going to earn their right to be there, and hopefully, they are able to get some experience from playing first grade," he said.
"The likes of Mason (Ashcroft) and Zac Dart, there are a few there."
After just picking up one win from last season, Burge is looking to set the standard off the field in the hope that will help the side find more results this season.
"We are trying to build a strong culture at the club, and we are hoping that results come with that," he said.

As for who he is looking to for performances this year, it falls to some of the more experienced younger boys who have gained first-grade experience over the last couple of seasons.
"Looking at a few of the younger guys who have played a few seasons, the likes of Connor Bock and Bryce Rogers," he said.
"He (Bock) has been training hard at the moment. He is a little bit older and knows his body a bit better."
Bock was one of the better performers from the Eagles last season with two fifties, and the Eagles will be hoping he will carry that form into 2021/22.
The season start is now just over a week away, which will see the Eagles start their campaign in the day-night clash with Coro Cougars on Saturday, October 30.
The first two rounds have been declared abandoned, with games played on October 16 and October 23, seeing points shared.
