The Dom's Motors Club Championships were completed at the Griffith Golf Club last weekend, with a record number of 498 players completing the four rounds.

There are not enough superlatives to describe the performance of the much-decorated Club Champion Mathew Staines, who shot under par for each of the four rounds, 66,67,68,69 for a 14 under par total of 270 to easily set a new record.
Amazingly though he had to add 17 shots to his handicap score, he also won handicap on 286 nett. Never before has a winner recorded an under-par score on his way to his 17th championship out of the last 20.
Runner-up Jason Magoci was 18 shots back on 298 with rounds of 75,72,74,77., on a countback over Josh Stapleton, who failed to capitalise on his first two rounds, two under par with a disastrous 85 in the final round.
Col Vearing won the A Reserve on 327 following the playoff with Nagarau Noa 327. Noa had the consolation of taking out handicap on 283 nett.
Tony Catanzariti 328 is the B Grade champion from Lama Lolotonga 336.
Catanzariti also won Handicap on 272 nett.
Michael Gaffey 360 won C Grade from promising junior Patty Payne 370.
Gaffey also won Handicap on 280 nett.
The inaugural D Grade championship saw for the first time a member of the clergy, Fr. Andrew Grace, take the title on 441, just five ahead of Charlie Jones 446.
Billy Evans 345 won a keenly fought Junior Championship, Blake Millis 355 runner-up, both players new to the sport. Millis has reduced his handicap to 14 whilst Evans is now in A Grade on 13 handicap.

The event of the day on Saturday was a single stroke with 132 players.
Aaron Webb fired 77 off the stick to take out A Grade on 66 nett ahead of Ton Catanzariti 67 nett, 80 scratch.
Charlie Guglielmino, 66 nett, 83 off the stick, won B Grade from Warren Bock 68 nett.
Shayne Cotterill, with a handicap pf 60 nett,91 scratch won C Grade from Adam McCann 69 nett.
Pins to 4th Barry Stapleton, 7th & 8th,Matt Staines, 11th Nathan Campbell, 15th Travis Payne, 16th Andrew Noad. Bryan Trembath eagled the first.
Sunday's Medley single stroke attracted 106 players.

Tony Catanzariti completed a big weekend, taking our A-Grade on 68 nett, a birdie on the 7th. Martin Sweeney second 69 nett, birdies on the 9th, 15th, and 16th.
Llisoni Koroi 63 nett easily in B Grade, a birdie on the 3rd, over Marcus Blanch 67 nett, birdie on the 9th.
Rod McNabb won C Grade on 69 nett ahead of Andrew Scott 70 nett, on a countback over Joe Cudmore 70 nett.
Paul De Mamiel won the 4th pin, Brad Hammond 7th, Ben Elwin 8th, Nathan Campbell 11th, Martin Sweeney 15th, Trevor Richards 16th.

Brad Fawcett 36 points won B Grade from Geoff Cotterill 34 points.
Garry Purcell 40 points best in C Grade, Garnett Reade 38 points runner-up.

The Veterans Tournament kicks off next Monday, October 25, to Friday, October 29.
Registration and free BBQ on Sunday, October 24 and 4.30pm.

A trip to the Malt House on Lay Day, Wednesday, as well as other excursions, have been organised.
