The pharmacy was motivated to start the clinics after running a similar program for flu shots earlier in the year, and said they were keen for the work that went into setting it up to remain useful.

Sean Dodd, a pharmacist and the man responsible for the idea said that they'd seen impressive demand for the vaccines and were keen to make it easier for people who might fall through the cracks.

"With everyone opening up, we noticed a few people coming in late. I don't think they realise just how strict the rules are surrounding it all," he said.

"We've been sort of inundated with the workload in store."

Mr Dodd explained that as vaccine take-up increases, they'd become concerned about shift workers.

"Especially shift workers are having issues, staff are just preoccupied. We can come to those workplaces so they can operate in a safe environment ... As we start getting to that 94 per cent first dose, we just want to make sure we can get everyone."

He added that workplaces that currently can't accept staff who haven't been double vaccinated will have some leniency as long as staff are going in expressly to receive the vaccination, but that if they were concerned, the doors are open to the pharmacy.

The first of the pop-up clinics will be in Barellan on October 13, but the team is hoping to continue putting the infrastructure to use.

"As we look to future endeavours and the new normal, you've got rapid antigen testing and flu vaccines that we can use it for. If things like boosters become a thing, these popups are something that we've set up so they will be around next year, don't worry," Mr Dodd explained.
