In a count conducted online Griggs, playing for home club Queanbeyan, racked up three best on grounds in the Tigers' first four games to take an early lead.
Two votes in round nine against Gungahlin, and two more three voters against Eastlake (round ten) and Gungahlin (round 13) ensured the competition's best and fairest award would head his way.
Griggs finished with 17 votes, four clear of runner-up Leyton Chisholm of Ainslie (13), with Belconnen's Luke Wharton a vote further behind in third.
The Tigers were the standouts of the competition before the city's lockdown forced a premature end to the season.
They ten of 11 games to finish one ahead of Belconnen on the table.
IN OTHER NEWS
Griggs coached Griffith for five years before returning home to Queanbeyan for last season after the Swans opted not to compete in the Riverina League.
He joined as a player in 2015, was assistant coach in 2016 and 2017 before guiding the Swans to back-to-back Riverina Leaue grand final defeats in 2018 and 2019 against Collingullie-Glenfield Park and Wagga Tigers respectively.
Meanwhile, East Wagga-Kooringal junior Ally Morphett finished third in the Bainrot Medal count for AFL Canberra's women's first grade competition.
The young ruckman was judged best on ground in rounds one and seven, but didn't attract any votes after round ten.
She finished with ten votes overall, behind winner Brittany Tully of Ainslie (13) and Georgie Jacques (11).
Morphett, still just 17, will begin her AFLW career next year after she was taken by Greater Western Sydney Giants with pick 37 in July's draft.
She has played in the Canberra competition for the past couple of seasons to further her development.
Morphett captained the Allies team at this year's under-19 national championships.
Standing at 188cm, she also has the ability to go forward with strong contested marking ability.
