Cricket from around the MIA can now see light at the end of the tunnel after a release from Cricket NSW with an earliest return date outlined.
Based on the current projections, the state is likely to re-open under restrictions as early as October 11 and with the Cricket NSW recommends to all cricket to prepare for a return to playing as early as October 16.
"Cricket NSW has always been determined to see the resumption of cricket as soon as possible, and as the NSW cricket community has demonstrated over the past 18 months, we are able to do so in a COVID Safe and compliant manner," the statement read.
"Cricket NSW is proactively engaging in ongoing discussions with NSW Sports Minister, The Hon. Natalie Ward, and other government departments on when and how community sport can return as part of the state's re-opening."
Should the season get underway on October 16 that would only be a week later than the original start of the GDCA season.
