Police were out in force over the weekend, performing COVID compliance checks on local businesses and patrons keen for a night out after some long weeks inside.

"Not a great deal happened," Inspector Tim Clark said.

"Everyone seemed to be reasonably well behaved. There were plenty of COVID compliance checks done in relation to [coming out of lockdown], just to make sure they were following the health regulations and they all were."

He mentioned that a 23 year old male was found to be intoxicated and aggressive, and was asked to leave the premises by police. He initially failed to do so, and was issued an infringement notice for his failure to comply with instructions. He later left the premises with no further escalation.

Inspector Clark was quick to add that one incident over the weekend was impressively low numbers.

"It is quite good, considering everyone was coming out of lockdown ... you sorta think everyone's been cooped up and they're going to go berserk," he said.
