Fires have been a notable problem across Griffith since early July, with a number of structure fires across the city. A number of abandoned houses, garages and recently, a block of stables at the showground have all been found alight including most recently, a second house on Heath Crescent.
Police have ben investigating the cause of the fires and whether there are connections between them, but said that there is no evidence that any of the fires are linked and little to suggest that they are deliberate.

Inspector Tim Clark said "They're all basically being investigated in relation to the cause and origin but that's all we can say. There's nothing that links them to say there's any serial issues, and there's no evidence that anyone is lighting fires deliberately."
He added that police hadn't ruled out the possibility of the fires being deliberate, but they weren't jumping to any conclusions.
Inspect Clark said that the fact that so many of the structures are abandoned indicated that squatters could be a worry.
"It is of concern that some of these houses are abandoned, that indicates that it's quite possible that it's deliberately lit or that people are using the premises for whatever reason ... They're doing whatever in there and that's causing the place to burn," he said.
He added that there were so many reasons that house fires can occur that the investigations could take some time.
"House fires can be quite difficult to determine the reasons for them," he explained.
A man was charged with lighting one of the fires in early July, after allegedly lighting a fire in a Collina garage.
So far, nobody has been hurt in any of the fires.
