The first-grade competition is due to start on October 9, which falls in the potential finals series of both Group 20 and Football Wagga, pending the lifting of the regional lockdown.
Despite this, GDCA president Tim Rand sees no reason, restrictions permitting that the season can't get underway at its usual start time.
"At this stage, I think everything is still looking good for the regional areas, so it looks like we will start on time which will be good," he said.
"I haven't really heard what they (winter codes) are doing with their finals.
"There is one week where Hanwood soccer have requested Hanwood Oval, but that will be the first week of our season.
"Third grade will be playing on Friday night, so they will only need Exies one and two and same with first grade. I'm assuming our grounds will be available for us to start."
With Westend Oval now off the table for the cricket association and plans to move to Jubilee Oval only in its infancy, there will be a bit of a rework to the youngest age group.
With second and third grade playing more games at the showgrounds, fourth grade will be moved to the synthetic pitches at Jubilee Oval and Murrumbidgee Regional High School Wade site.
Rand feels this will be for the betterment of the players coming up through the grade.
"With second and third grade playing a fair bit of cricket at the showground this year, it keeps those grounds accessible," he said.
"A few of us also feel that the fourth-grade competition might be better suited to going back to synthetic where the bounce is a bit truer, and they can learn their cricket a bit better."

Griffith will also play host to the Colston/Scammell Shield (under 16s) and Gorrell Cup (under 18s) in November, which will be the first time since 2017/18 that Griffith will play host to a representative carnival.
"It is always good when we can get those carnivals here," he said.
"It is not only good for the kids, but it is good for the town. Gives us a chance to showcase our pitches and grounds."
This season will also see a carnival of cricket on Sunday December 6 with all three grades playing their Twenty20 finals on the one day.
"I think that will be exciting to have all three grades playing at the same venue on the same day," he said.
"We have also tried to work around the representative calendar.
"The 16s are normally playing after Christmas and they are more likely to be playing in the first and second grade sides so we wanted to get it done before then."
