CITY HAS GREAT GARDENS THAT DESERVE ATTENTION
I agree that spending the amount of money on a new garden is a waste. In the past 12 months I have enjoyed walking in Griffith City Park - a great use of an unused space with the channel at the centre. Continue on along the channel in Canal Street and the area is a disgrace - the money could be spent there giving Griffith a truly unique feature

MONEY SHOULD BE SPENT WHERE IT'S NEEDED
Spend money where it's needed not on whim. It will not bring dollars into Griffith, not in great position. The Lake is in position to bring tourists and grow Griffith to what it should be. All the smaller surrounding towns have more. Griffith hasn't grown in comparison to Wagga when I left. It has gone backwards. Councilman are doing there own agendas not what people want

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO ADAPT TO CHANGE?
For two or three decades we have witnessed significant politicisation within Australia about reducing carbon emissions to address climate change.
Yet the sad reality is even if Australia does or doesn't take drastic action, there will be an insignificant impact on the global emissions.
We as a nation will still face issues with climate change. It leaves me to ask questions about what are we doing to adapt to the predicted changes? We have modelling which suggests more droughts and more flooding. So why are we not investing in dams to increase storage capacity?
We know agriculture will likely suffer reductions in productivity. So why are we not seeing massive investment in research and development in drought-tolerant crops or investing in markets for more suitable crops?
We know productivity in Agriculture will decrease. So why are we not incentivise investment in value-adding chains to be built within our regional communities to ensure greater returns stay with our communities?
We know mega-fires are more likely to occur. So why are we not investing heavily in research to minimise their impact?
We have Governments for a reason.
Governments are not a business. Governments carry the social burden of addressing issues we can not solve alone, or there are few financial incentives to solve.
I believe Australia needs to establish a task force solely focused on preparing Australia for a different climate.

ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES TO HELP CANCER PATIENTS
The evidence is clear - optimal vaccine coverage is key to controlling COVID-19 in NSW. Evidence is also strengthening that COVID-19 poses a threat to cancer outcomes. Because of this, Cancer Council NSW is calling on the community to roll up its sleeves and help achieve optimal COVID-19 vaccine coverage, to help reduce the risks of long-term COVID-19 impacts on cancer outcomes.
During the 2020 lockdown, we saw disruptions to cancer screening services and program participation which is aimed at detecting cancer earlier. We know COVID-19 is especially harmful if contracted by individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
While there is a lot of confusion and misinformation out there, the evidence is clear that vaccines work and that accelerating the control of COVID-19 will support our focus on controlling cancer, which remains the leading cause of premature death in the state. People living with cancer should discuss their COVID-19 vaccine requirements with their doctor. Now is an ideal time for someone who is due for their screening to complete the test. The bowel cancer screening test is done at home, with the sample sent in the mail.
We know that this is an incredibly stressful time for many people, particularly those impacted by cancer. If you are affected by cancer, we're here to help. Call Cancer Council's 13 11 20 Information and Support line or visit cancercouncil.com.au.
