Here in our Murrumbidgee Local Health District, we have been extremely fortunate to have remained virus free in 2021 with a few close calls in recent times.
It is likely we won't be able to maintain this status indefinitely, but there are choices we can make.
We should all know the drill by now - stay at home unless you need to leave home for work, shopping or medical treatment, wear a mask, socially distance, sanitise your hands and QR check in everywhere you go.
We are very privileged in Griffith to have a number of options for COVID testing.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The MLHD clinic at 52 Yambil St is open seven days a week from 8.30am to 1.30pm on a drop in or booking basis (1800 831 099).
The GP-led respiratory clinic at 105 Binya St is open from 9am to 1pm from Monday to Thursday and Friday from 9am to 4pm with bookings taken online or by calling 6962 7661.
Laverty Pathology at the Showgrounds is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm and Saturday from 8am to 11am.
Once tested you must remain at home and isolate until you receive the results.
One area that our community needs to improve is our vaccination rates as we are lagging behind at only 20 to 29 per cent fully vaccinated.
We are not accustomed to being mindful of transmission risk, but that risk is escalating by the day with vaccination being the key.
