Following a discussion at their July meeting, the Multicultural Council of Griffith felt the ongoing COVID-19 situation remained 'unpredictable' now and for the rest of 2021.
lthough the rollout of the vaccines is predicted to be carried out effectively, no guarantees are currently certain, because it's the vaccine which will offer the freedom for people to move around more freely.
This brings us to the point of a festival, which is an event, whereby those attending expect to attend and experience a good and happy event, be able to participate freely with singing, and dancing along with enjoying the diverse foods from food stalls.
In the current environment, this scenario with the restrictions expected to be placed on the event, would be vastly different and difficult to achieve.
In country Australia, the population has been blessed to be COVID-19 free, however, the anxiety, distress of not being able to work and travel freely, has taken its toll just as much.
Therefore, the only armour against the virus are vaccines and health officials continue to beg people to 'have the shot'. For those who can, please do so, because in in today's world, the ready options of variety of effective vaccines, help to combat the virus and keep everyone as healthy and free as possible from the virus.
Just to put the situation in perspective, the havoc that COVID-19 has placed on the world as a whole, is not unique. These scenarios, in past years and centuries, have occurred many times over, although, with much less technology than is available today.
In the past histories of virus outbreaks, severe restrictions were also placed on the world population so as to arm people against the damage a virus can bring.
