"I'm happy with my shooting at the moment. I wish I could have had this feeling a few days ago for the team (event)," said Worth, with Australia not making it out of the first round in the teams.

"I apologise to them for that, but I've just got to keep normal, simple shots going forward."

Having also struggled during last Friday's ranking rounds to be seeded 39th in a field of 64, Worth did keep it simple in his opening round contest to demolish Indonesian Alviyanto Psastyadi 6-0.

He strayed out of the gold area of the board - which is worth either nine or 10 points - just once with his nine arrows.

He backed it up with an epic victory over China's Wei Shaoxuan - who was seventh in the ranking round - in a contest that went back and forth.

All tied up at 4-4 after four sets, Worth held his nerve with shots of 10 and eight as his Chinese opponent faltered with a pair of sevens, a nine with his final arrow sealing a third round match-up with Turkey's Mete Gazoz.

"Having those extra couple of days just to figure out what went wrong for the ranking round, and the team round," Worth said of what changed from his earlier efforts.

"Just to reset and kind of let the emotion go and just refocus for the individual round."

Gazoz earned his third-round berth by beating Aussie Ryan Tyack in the second round.

Tyack ran into a red-hot Gazoz, trailing 5-3 after four sets despite scores of 27, 28, 27 and 29.

They matched tens with their first shots in the fifth set before a pair of eights opened the door for Gazoz to move through.

Australia's two other competitors in the individual event failed to progress out of the first round.

David Barnes was outclassed by Riau Ega Salsabilla 7-1 in the men's, while Alice Ingley was eliminated by Ksenia Perova by the same score, the Australian never recovering after her Russian opponent put up a perfect 30 in the opening set.
