The ACT Indoor State Championship saw Mr Wylie compete in the Veterans Barebow in Archery which saw him place first in not just the ACT but in the country as the event was also a national championship.
After picking up the sport 15 years ago, he started off as a member of the Griffith City Archers but since the dissolution of the club four years ago, he has since joined Canberra Archery Club to continue competing and training for the sport.
"I used to watch my son take part in archery classes at PCYC and after a while I thought why not have a crack at it myself instead of just sitting on the sidelines," Wylie said.

According to Mr Wylie, the secret to his success is practice, practice and more practice.
"The more you practice the better at the sport you will be," Wylie said.
He currently trains at his workplace where he shoots indoors from 18 meters and outdoors alongside a disused railway line using four different types of boys including the barebow recurve, compound bow, barebow compound, longbow and with a freestyle recurve which is the bow of choice for Olympians.
"If you master the freestyle recurve you can master any bow," Mr Wylie said.
And whilst archery may be a 'younger persons game', you can shoot through to any age says Wylie.
